DDA Recreational Dance Information

We offer an excellent start for dancers looking for beginner or intermediate level classes in all styles of dance.  Our Recreational classes all meet one time per week and participate in a year-end recital – plus some other community shows.

 

Fall Schedule – 2022-2023 Fall/Spring Schedule

Available Recreational Classes:

            Combo Classes – This is a great intro to dance for the younger dancers and a perfect class to continue your dance education in several dance subjects.  This one hour class will feature tap, ballet, jazz, and tumbling.  Dancers work for on each subject for 30 minutes each – and switch between jazz and ballet one week and tap and tumbling the next. All combo class dancers will be featured in two routines plus the finale for the annual recital.  Some classes may have the opportunity to attend and compete at a local dance competition.  They will also have some outside performance opportunities.  Our combo classes start at age 3.  We have several options for all different ages up to age 9.

            Hip Hop/Jazz Classes – This class is a FUN, fast moving class that will teach the dancers the most up-to-date steps of hip hop and also traditional jazz dance.  This one hour class will feature 30 minutes of jazz and 30 minutes of hip hop each week.  Dancers will also have the opportunity to attend and compete at a local dance competition – as well as other performance opportunities.  This class will perform a jazz and a hip hop routine in the recital in addition to the finale.  Lots of fun – these classes fill up quickly! Our Mini class is for ages 5-6, Juniors for ages 7-8-9, Intermediate for ages 10 and up.

          Musical Theatre, Contemporary and Tap Comp Prep Classes – These classes are a perfect intro to these different dance styles.  Each one is a 30 minute class that focuses on Musical Theatre, Contemporary or Tap.  These are fun classes and will have the opportunity to compete at a local competition. Dancers will perform one routine in the recital – and only pay 1/2 the costume fee.  Class is for dancers ages 8 and older.

          Jazz/Lyrical Classes – This class is for dancers who would like to focus on jazz and lyrical/contemporary styles of dance.  This class will be one hour long each week – with 30 minutes of jazz and 30 minutes of lyrical/contemporary style dance.  Dancers will perform two routines in the recital – and also have the opportunity to compete at a local dance competition.  Junior level is for ages 7-8-9 and Intermediate/Senior is for dancers ages 10 and older.

         Dance Team Prep Class – This 30 minute class is for dancers who are wanting to prepare for the dance team auditions at their schools or for DDA for next season.  This class will focus on skills needed to attain those skills.  Includes pom, jazz, and hip hop along with leaps/turns and lots of technique.  This class will NOT perform in the recital.  For dancers ages 11 and up.

         Leaps/Turns/Conditioning – This 45 minute class is a technique class that will concentrate on the skills needed to perfect leaps across the floor and turns in center.  Cardio, core work, and other exercises will also be done during this class.  This is an advanced level class for commpetition team dancers, but recreational dancers are welcome to take this as well – levels 1,2,3  – depending on teacher placement.  Please email or call for more info on enrolling in this class if you are not a Competition Teams Member.

          Ballet Technique – We offer 5 levels of ballet technique classes and  pointe technique classes throughout the week and on Saturdays.  This one hour class focuses on barre work and center.  Dancers must be ages 8 or older to attend the ballet classes – and are required to take a placement class prior to enrollment in a ballet technique class.
